  • Birth, marriage and death certificates:
    Available from 1st July 1837, although registration of vital events only became law in 1875
  • Adoption certificates available:
    Available 1st January 1927, when legal adoption began in England & Wales
  • Decrees absolute:
    Available from 1857
  • Wills and grants:
    Available from 11th January 1858

DOCUMENT SERVICE

(England & Wales only)

If you know the date of the event, we will retrieve copies of English & Welsh birth, marriage and death certificates, grants and Wills.

Cost: £20 (+VAT) per document regardless of no. of copies + cost of documents.



DOCUMENT SEARCH

(England & Wales only)

This service is required if you do not know the date and place of the event concerned. Kin’s Document Search service will first find the record and then provide a copy of the document(s).

Cost: £40 (+VAT) per document (regardless of no. of copies) + cost of documents for up to 1 hour of searching.



NIL-RATE BAND PACK

(England & Wales only)

If an individual – whose spouse or civil partner predeceased them – died after 8th October 2007 it is possible to transfer any unused portion of the predeceasing spouse or civil partner’s Nil-Rate Band to the deceased’s Nil-Rate Band, thereby offering a further saving on Inheritance Tax.

Naturally, HMRC requires documentation to allow this transfer and Kin’s Nil-Rate Band Pack will provide the following to prove transferability:

  • A copy of the deceased’s marriage certificate.
  • A copy of the predeceasing spouse or civil partner’s death certificate.
  • A copy of any Will or Grant of Probate.

Cost: The minimum price will be £60 (+VAT) plus disbursements.

The maximum price will be:

  • £40 to find the marriage +
  • £40 to find the death +
